We limit our barriers by investing, building, and operating our facilities, protecting our IP, never compromising on design, and exceeding industry standards. The Grissan Team is highly skilled and multi-disciplined with backgrounds in Engineering, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Compliance, Finance and People Development.
With decades of operating experience and an exemplary reputation we produce renewable natural gas in a safe and sustainable way. Drawing on our Scottish industrial heritage and utilising our state-of-the-art technologies, we partner with distillers to process cereal based residues (from wheat, corn, barley and rye) into renewable natural gas.
Our renewable natural gas delivers flexibility to generate low carbon electricity, displace natural gas or other fossil fuels in both heating and transport and delivers decarbonisation. We also produce liquid and fibre organic soil conditioners to support sustainable regenerative local farming.
What we do
We make clean, green energy in the form of Renewable Natural Gas from distillery residues.
We offtake a broad range of wastes and residues from local distilleries and convert them into Renewable Natural Gas to fuel homes, businesses and heavy goods vehicles. Our Vitagrow™ products provide liquid and fibre soil conditioners for use in sustainable local farming and bio-CO₂ for use in industry.
Today, Grissan processes approximately 3 million tonnes of distillery wastes and residues each year producing over 1.5 TWh of renewable and sustainable energy. That’s enough to heat 200,000 homes and abates over 300,000 tonnes CO₂ from direct energy emissions.
